Hottest Siemens acquires avatar through innovative

  • Detail

Siemens acquired avatar and expanded the EDA layout through innovative layout and cabling technology

this acquisition further expanded the Siemens xcelerator solution portfolio, Through the groundbreaking cloth with a very wide speed regulation range and beam moving distance, the office wiring software enhances the current integrated circuit design product

avatar technology strengthens Siemens' leadership in the field of design to silicon by supporting the layout and wiring technology of advanced node design

Siemens recently signed an agreement to acquire avatar integrated systems (avatar), which is headquartered in California, USA. Avatar is a leading developer of place and route software for integrated circuit (IC) design in car locks, taillights, handlebars, baskets and pedals. It can help engineers optimize the power consumption, performance and size (PPA) of complex chips with fewer resources. Siemens plans to add avatar's technology to the xcelerator solution portfolio as part of mentor IC software suite to adapt to the growing layout and cabling segment. Avatar will integrate with mentor's leading products, including calibre platform, tessent software and catapult HLS software, to help customers develop solutions that can meet current and future design implementation challenges

our customers are accelerating the transition to advanced process nodes, and the growing complexity is the key challenge in this process. Joseph Sawicki, executive vice president of IC EDA of mentor business under Siemens' digital industrial software, said that Avatar has an innovative software architecture and its products are easy to use. It helps customers overcome this complex challenge through the layout and wiring function of advanced nodes. With the support of Siemens, avatar solutions will surpass existing competitive products and help customers achieve design convergence and better PPA results in a shorter time. We welcome avatar to join the Siemens family

for 7Nm and below processes, detailed wiring must be considered in advance at the layout stage. Avatar pioneered a detailed route centric architecture based on a unified memory data model, which enables all engines to access complete design data and attributes at any time. This enables each engine (layout, routing, timing, optimization, clock tree synthesis, etc.) to be dynamically used with other engines in an incremental manner

Ping San Tzeng, chief technology officer of avatar integrated systems, said: Avatar's method can achieve excellent correlation at all stages of layout and wiring, and improve PPA results. After joining Siemens, avatar can use a wider range of resources to further develop the technology, accelerate research and development and expand market share. We are proud of our technical achievements and good reputation in customer support, and hope to further strengthen these advantages after joining Siemens

avatar's products are based on atoptech technology acquired in 2017. The product line includes full function module level physical implementation tools from aprisa table to GDS, as well as apogee's complete top-level prototype production, bottom-level planning and chip assembly tools. Avatar's products have passed the Process Certification of many industry-leading semiconductor wafer factories (including 28nm and 7Nm), and are currently developing 6nm and 5nm versions

the acquisition is expected to be completed in the second half of 2020, and the terms of the transaction have not been disclosed
